The “Koutsounes or koukounares” program is an experiential workshop for the creation of the small Easter bread decorated with a red egg that was made by the housewives and was an Easter gift for young children. The shapes of this bread were inspired by the flora and fauna of Crete, but also from the world of children’s play.
The children become little cooks and make their own bunch of buns. The workshop evolves into a play of representation and operational process, emphasizing the central role of nutrition in the Cretan customs and tradition. At the same time it makes allusions to the cycle of time and the rotation of the seasons.
